Metrology Solutions with Mason Goodwin
For more than a decade, Mason Goodwin, Director of Metrology Services, has played a key role in Made to Measure’s mission to deliver world-class metrology solutions. Since joining the company in 2012, Mason has worn many hats, from metrologist to department leader, and today he oversees contract inspection, equipment service, and calibration operations. His perspective provides a unique window into how Made to Measure helps manufacturers achieve precision and confidence in their processes.
Metrology Solutions with Mason Goodwin: A Career Built on Hands-On Problem Solving
Mason’s journey into metrology began after shifting his college focus to manufacturing engineering. “The application of the coursework really resonated with my interest. I wanted something hands-on that made a direct impact,” he explains. That practical mindset still guides him today, especially in his focus on delivering actionable insights to customers.
At Made to Measure, Mason has worked across nearly every department, giving him a full view of how measurement impacts operations. This background makes him uniquely qualified to guide manufacturers through complex inspection and calibration challenges.
Turning Measurement into Actionable Data
“What motivates me is when we can provide actionable data to our customers, where we can really assist them in their root cause,” Mason says. Many clients come to Made to Measure struggling with engineering or quality challenges. Mason and his team step in to not only identify problems but also recommend solutions that improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
For example, customers often struggle with GD&T requirements that are either drafted improperly or set unrealistic goals. Mason and his team use their expertise to provide clarity and help manufacturers avoid costly mistakes. “So often in our industry, quality challenges stem from engineering issues,” he explains. “We can consult, identify these challenges, and help companies tackle those problems head-on.”
Growing Calibration Services with Customer Feedback
Mason has also been instrumental in building Made to Measure’s calibration department, which he describes as a competitive and efficiency-driven business. “Our customers told us early on, ‘I don’t mind paying a premium for good communication and a reasonable turnaround,’” Mason recalls.
Rather than racing to the lowest price point, Mason has focused on customer experience and reliability. By prioritizing transparency and turnaround time, Made to Measure differentiates itself in a crowded calibration market.
Tackling the Industry’s Toughest Challenges
Mason is quick to point out that Made to Measure doesn’t shy away from difficult work. “We don’t take the easy stuff,” he explains. “Typically it’s the science projects, the ones where you’re scratching your head on the last 20%. That’s where our team thrives”.
This “red zone” mindset has made Mason and his team trusted partners for customers in aerospace, defense, and medical manufacturing, industries where precision is non-negotiable. Whether solving a complex inspection challenge or supporting customers with capacity and expertise, Mason ensures Made to Measure is there when manufacturers need it most.
Building Trust Through Metrology Solutions
For manufacturers under pressure to meet tight tolerances, Mason represents exactly what they need: a leader who understands both the technical demands of metrology and the importance of building strong, trust-driven relationships.
Mason’s vision ensures that Made to Measure continues to deliver precision solutions that drive growth, efficiency, and long-term customer confidence.
