Our partnership with Renishaw has roots tracing back to the late 1980s when our founder, Sven Bley, began performing contract inspections at his family’s aerospace machine shop—Bley Engineering. Bley, an early adopter of coordinate measuring machines, would offer inspection services to manufacturers in need of more precise measurements.

During this time, Bley brought in Denis Zayia to partner with Ferranti—considered to be the progenitor of coordinate measuring machines. Both Bley and Zayia saw the opportunity, growth, and possibilities presented by metrology, and how CMMs compounded the benefits. And while coordinate measuring machines only became commercially available in the mid-1970s, Bley saw the genuine demand for repeatable, accurate measurements only achievable via CMM.

In 1995, Zayia began working at Renishaw as a National Sales Manager in the Industrial Metrology department; and by 2003, Bley transformed his modest in-house metrology department into the independent, ISO 17025:2017 Accredited lab that is Made to Measure.

Renishaw & Made to Measure: Partnership Persists

The rest, as they say, is history. In 2020, Zayia was named President of Renishaw USA; and Bley continuously evolves Made to Measure beyond simply dimensional inspection. Surrounded by exponentially-expanding engineering endeavors, the need for metrology services and precision measurement equipment has never been greater.

Now, Made to Measure does so much more than simply inspecting parts. We aim to advance metrology as a whole, just as our partners at Renishaw do. We are one of only three certified AUKOM metrology training centers in the United States, we offer a long list of metrology services, repair & retrofit coordinate measuring machines, and of course—we distribute Renishaw precision measurement products.
