The GD&T Fundamentals course is a 3-day, instructor-led training designed to give manufacturing professionals a clear, practical understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) based on the ASME Y14.5 standard.

Taught at Made to Measure, this course focuses on the what, when, why, and how of GD&T with the goal of bringing all participants to a common, operational level of understanding. This is not theory-heavy training. The emphasis is on real-world application, interpretation, and use of GD&T on engineering drawings.

Each registration reserves one seat per student for this onsite training seminar.

What You’ll Learn

This GD&T Fundamentals class provides a structured introduction to geometric tolerancing, starting with core concepts and building toward confident interpretation of GD&T callouts on drawings.

By the end of the course, students will:

• Understand how GD&T works and why it is used
• Correctly interpret GD&T symbols and feature control frames
• Visualize tolerance zones and datum reference frames
• Apply GD&T concepts to real manufacturing and inspection scenarios
• Communicate more effectively between design, machining, and quality

The course includes lecture-based instruction, classroom discussion, and time for questions. Students are encouraged to bring their own engineering drawings (with company permission) to work through real challenges and learn from others.

Each student will also receive a GD&T Pocket Guide, a compact reference designed for quick, on-the-job use after training.

• Profile tolerances: line and surface
• Runout tolerances: circular and total runout
• Modifiers: RFS, MMC, LMC, projected tolerance, tangent plane
